Before Strength Comes Awareness

A simple lesson that can change the way you push, pull, and organize your upper body. Understanding your scapula is the foundation of honest movement.

Today I want to give you a simple lesson that can change the way you push, pull and organize your upper body. And tomorrow, if you join us in the Rings Body program, you will have a place to apply it directly.

Most people move their arms without understanding how their scapula behaves. But the scapula is the structure that sets the tone for your shoulder, your force, and your overall stability. This is why we start here.

A Simple Map for Your Scapula

As you watch these clips, pay attention to how gravity pulls on your body in each position.

Gravity is always shaping your experience, either assisting the movement or resisting it. When you understand this relationship, the movement gains meaning. You begin to see why you need to push or pull in a certain direction, and what the intention behind each action is.

It is not that the technique becomes more honest. It is that you understand the purpose behind the movement, and that clarity changes everything.

The scapula can move in several directions: elevation and depression, protraction and retraction, upward and downward rotation. Each of these movements has a purpose, and each one connects to specific exercises and positions on the rings.

Your Push Up and Chin Up Foundations

To help you take this further, I added two free guides. These show you how each scapula position shapes force and how to use that knowledge to improve your training immediately.

Understanding scapula mechanics will help you:

  • Build stronger, safer pushing patterns
  • Develop pulling strength from the right foundation
  • Protect your shoulders during ring training
  • Create better body awareness in every movement

We Start Together on Monday

Tomorrow is day one of Rings Body. If you want to train with us, you can join for only $27 and start at the level that fits you. There are four levels in the program, from complete beginners to more seasoned practitioners.

And we begin now, before January 1st. Not to "get ahead" in a competitive way. Not to compensate for anything during the holidays.

We begin now because the practice is something you can integrate into your life, even during a busy season. It does not need to be something you dread or postpone. Beginning before the new year gives you momentum that will carry you into January feeling grounded, clear and connected.

Take a Moment With Your Body Today

Watch the visuals. Feel the movements. Let your body understand what strength will rest on.

Tomorrow we start. If you decide to join us, you arrive prepared.

The practice goes on.
